Gabrielle
September has kept me plenty busy between organising for the upcoming D.I.C.E and working on three soon to be released projects!
First off is Gabrielle, which is a part of an upcoming anthology called 'Everybody's Cursed' by the swell Stu Perrins.
I previously worked with Stu on a submission for OFFLIFE comics,a UK-based indie zine that publishes anthologies of free comics. Unfortunately we didn't make the cut that month. However, the opportunity came up to work on something else and thus Gabrielle was born!
Both Gabrielle and our OFFLIFE comic,'Fancy' will be featured in his upcoming anthology which is out now!

Comic Book Sketches! (1st - 7th June)
A collection of pieces I did in part as a challenge to come up with a new drawing every day for a week.
The rules I gave myself were;
1) Must be a comic book character from separate franchises. (In this case, mostly Vertigo Comics...)
2) Must use a pose for reference. (exaggeration allowed)
3) Limited pallette (with exception to spot colours if necessary.)
In the end it was a nice exercise that got me thinking about how dynamic you can simply make a few lines look! Might do another few pieces soon with different rules. Perhaps with the theme of video games/book characters/conceptual ideas?

A Bunch Of Tricks
Well-adjusted people always tell you, "Jerry, don't be ridiculous. There are no such things as monsters. They're not under our beds or on newspaper headlines. They are products of our imagination."
Those people are wrong.
Monsters do exist in this mortal plain. There is a blackness that extracts our very will, our very vitality and joy like marrow from a bone.
We call these monsters children.
On Halloween they show their true faces.

Stay safe.

Frox
A recent submission I did for 'The Art Of Superstition' brief organized by Illustrators Ireland. The aim of the project was for artists and illustrators to submit pieces based on superstition. For my piece,I chose to focus on frogs and their association with bad luck.
It is said that if you were to interfere with a frog or bring them harm, they would cause infertility. So in tow with that,I was also inspired by the superstition in the art of the tarot and also based this design from the figure XII who is known as The Hanged Man. I combined the two into one subject matter by making The Hanged Man,in this case, a rabbit since rabbits are known symbols of fertility.

The Holy Numbers
This week,I decided to take a look at an Irish comic that has recently caught my eye,Tommie Kelly's The Holy Numbers.
The Holy Numbers was a webcomic collected into a book that tackles the main theme of organised religion and the behaviour of cults. The Numbers are a group founded by a man known as Ravensdale (#1) who leads the movement after he claims to have communicated with a divine being. From this claim,he convinces everyone he has been granted supernatural powers and wants to bring modern Ireland into a New Age. However, before he can truely attain the means to spread his teachings,he is murdered in cold blood. This is when the story begins and we are introduced to the protagonist,Aaron Doyle, who must uncover the truth of who really killed Ravensdale and what exactly is going on within the organisation.
